A short walkthrough of this screen in the app.

What you see here

Under My company you find the Details section. The screen is called Company details and shows a form with your company identity: Company name, Registration number, Zip code, City, Address, Privacy mailbox, Privacy policy URL and Sector.

The form is locked by default. You see the notice “This form is read only”, explaining that this prevents accidental changes. These details matter: they are copied verbatim into your privacy policies and your records of processing, so a mistake here ends up in your legally required documentation.

Further down the page are a few sections you usually leave alone: Managed by (whether you work through a reseller), Partner API access for integrations, and at the very bottom Delete company account.

What is expected of you

  1. Unlock and check. Click Enable editing to open the form. Go through every field. Changes are saved automatically. If a required field is missing you see “Your changes cannot be saved yet” with the list of fields still to fill in.
  2. Set up a privacy mailbox. We recommend a separate address, for example privacy@yourcompany.com. GDPR-related requests then get their own channel and nothing gets lost in the daily flood of email in your regular inbox. This address is quoted in your privacy policy.
  3. Enter the URL of your privacy policy. Once your policy is online, paste the link here. GDPRWise uses it on the GDPR Documents screen to check whether the published version is still current.
  4. Change the sector only if it is wrong. Via Change sector you pick a different sector. Be aware that this affects your documentation: certain sector-specific aspects are built into your documents and the suggested processes. Cannot find your sector? Read what to do when your sector is not listed.
  5. Regenerate your documents. After a change you get the notice “Details changed. You need to regenerate all documents to apply these changes.” with the button Go to GDPR Documents. Do it right away, otherwise your old address or name stays in the published version.

You are done when every required field is filled in, the incomplete-data warning is gone and your documents have been regenerated.

Next step

Want to give colleagues access? That is handled on the Contributors screen, see managing your team and roles. If your privacy policy is not online yet, read how to publish your privacy policy.
